36th SPICE Meeting 63rd ICECE Work Group Meeting

Warnemunde, Germany
12 – 14 Oct 2000

This SPICE meeting celebrated the Tenth Anniversary of the Technology Center Warnemunde (TZW). Established shortly after the Berlin Wall fell, TZW now is certainly one of the most successful innovation centers in Germany and has developed to a technology park. Thanks to the effective work of Petra Ludwig, managing director of TZW, and her highly engaged team the number of companies has grown steadily. Some of the graduated firms settled in own buildings outside the technology park, but others invested in their own buildings in the area of TZW. With the establishment of new research institutes on the campus and the university neighboring the site all components for a technology park are available. Gu4st speaker Barbara Harley, San Jose, California, did not only present at the symposium to celebrate the anniversary, but also at the BALTIC RIM workshop. This project is steered by TZW and aimed at establishing a virtual market place for companies around the Baltic Sea. The conference and the symposium were moderated by SPICE president Heinz Fiedler, founder of the first business incubator in Germany.
